Codeshare flights also offer connections to and from the daily flights United Airlines offers to Delhi and Mumbai directly from New York. Full-service airline Vistara said on Monday it had entered into a codeshare pact with Lufthansa. “We are pleased to offer our common customers the opportunity to create a seamless itinerary if they plan to travel to cities beyond New Delhi and Mumbai,” said John Gebo, Vice President of Alliances at United. British Airways is an important codeshare partner for Vistara in India. As part of the agreement, British Airways` “BA” design code is added to Vistara`s flights, which cover a large number of Indian cities, including British Airways virtual destinations, namely Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Goa, Kolkata, Kochi and Pune. British Airways customers travelling with Vistara enjoy free meals and can choose from three different cabins, including India`s only premium economy. As part of the codeshare agreement, Members of British Airways Executive Club can also collect avios and earn status points when booking Vistara flights coded to “BA.” According to a United press release, the agreement will make it easier for customers planning to travel throughout India to experience. The agreement sets the following step with the existing loyalty agreement between the two airlines. Currently, members of the MileagePlus and Vistara loyalty program can collect and use miles when flying on one of the airlines` routes. Codeshare flights offer comfortable connections to and from the daily flights that British Airways already offers to Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru directly from London Heathrow. Vistara flights operate from the same terminals as British Airways in Delhi (T3) and Mumbai (T2), making connections with these airports comfortable and fluid. Ticket sales through the share code agreement will begin this year until government approvals are available, Vistara said in a statement. John Gebo, United`s senior vice president of alliances, shared his joy at the partnership. He said passengers on both airlines will be in place to plan their journey more efficiently. “Under the new agreement, customers benefit from 126 weekly flights connecting ten major Indian cities to Lufthansa via Delhi/Lufthansa and Vistara in the final phase to allow customers to collect miles with both airlines,” the German airline said in a statement. Vistara has entered into a codeshare agreement with German airline Lufthansa, the sixth such contract with an international airline, as the full-service national airline tries to expand its overseas network. Lufthansa said it had entered into a “comprehensive codeshare agreement” between Vistara. The two airlines already have an interline partnership. Vistara is the second airline after Air India to have a codeshare agreement with Lufthansa. In addition to code sharing, customers can also benefit from the extensive interline agreement between Vistara and British Airways.
Customers can now travel between India and exciting destinations throughout Europe and the UK, including, but not limited to Aberdeen, Glasgow, Dublin, Manchester, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg and Milan, which are connected to Vistara and British Airways services in one ticket via London Heathrow.
